Cheese Rice Bake

This recipe appeared on the Carolina® rice package in 1990. This recipe is economical and delicious. It's perfect with barbecued franks, ground sirloin, or fish sticks.

  • Ingredients
    1 cup Mahatma® White Rice
    1 1/2 cups Cheddar cheese, shredded
    2 Tbsps butter
    1 pkg powdered chicken broth mix
    1/4 tsp hot pepper sauce
    1/2 cup milk
    1 egg, lightly beaten
  • Directions
    Preheat oven to 400°F.

    Prepare rice according to package directions.

    In a bowl, stir one cup of the cheese, butter, instant chicken broth, and hot sauce, mixing well. Combine this mixture with milk and egg and stir into the hot cooked rice. Spoon the entire mixture into a buttered 1½-quart casserole dish. Bake for 15-minutes. Sprinkle with remaining ½ cup of cheese and bake for another 5 minutes.
